Healthy Schools Contest

We are very excited to announce the Healthy Schools Contest!

Shelton School District is challenging each school to do their very best to continue following the health and safety guidelines. Over the next few weeks, district administrators will be popping into each school, and the school that is determined to be following the health and safety guidelines the best, based on a number of factors, will win a prize and be recognized! The winners will be announced by the end of November.

What are some ways your school can show they are following the health and safety guidelines the best?

Make sure to wear masks properly and at all times while at school and while riding the bus (unless during a mask break). We understand that wearing a mask all day is not ideal, but it is extremely important during this time to help protect each other from getting sick. Please remember that masks are required for all students and staff.

There has been a direct correlation between the few positive COVID cases in our schools and improper mask-wearing. This may mean that someone’s nose or mouth is not covered all the way, or they may be taking their mask off completely. Understandably, there are times when masks cannot be worn, such as lunchtime. During these times, everyone needs to do their part to stay physically distanced from others.

Wash and sanitize hands often. Everyone should wash their hands upon arriving at school, before eating meals, after recesses, after P.E., and completing projects or activities, etc.

Stay physically-distanced. Although being back in school is exciting, 6 feet of physical distance will be required at all times outside the classroom, except when incidentally passing each other in hallways and momentary encounters on campus.

Stay home if you are feeling ill or have a known exposure to someone with COVID-19. If you are unsure whether to keep your student(s) home or how we decide when to send students home, please see our Symptom Decision Tree.
