Construction Update

Our Bordeaux Elementary construction update: November 12, 2019.

Ben Bruner, our head custodian was able to attend a meeting with Robert Herron and the Contractors.  He followed up with this (extremely helpful!) information:

Construction plan through December 10, 2019:

  • 11/8-11/15 electricians and plumbers will start all their work that sits underneath the new gym.  Because of all that is involved, this process will take most of the next seven days.
  • 11/18-11/19 pour the concrete slab for the gym floor, and the rest of the surface pours, ramps, etc.
  • 11/20-12/10 Framing walls; we will begin to see substantial transformation at this phase.

The weather has been in our favor this entire project, so far.  It is predicted to stay relatively mild for the next few weeks.  We anticipate seeing a great deal of progress.

During the framing of the walls, there will be several trucks delivering trusses, sheathing, roofing, siding, a number of laminated beams, including the very large, very heavy, main ceiling beam.  There will be multiple cranes used to get them off the trucks, stacked, and finally put into place.   All of this is projected to happen mid to late December.  Obviously, if the weather holds, this could happen sooner.
